Chris and I were so sorry to hear the sad news about Margaret. We became good friends when she and John rented our house on Waiheke Island, when they were building over the ridge behind us. Sadly John died before their house was completed and we saw Margaret in her apartment in Parnell.
We were in Christchurch at the time of Margaret´s Memorial Service and were extremely sorry not be there to pay our respects. They were a really talented and devoted couple as surgeon and expert in olive oil, producing and judging worldwide. We miss them both and send our sincere condolences to their family. To Margarets family. I first met Margaret when we were about 8 years old and staying at our mutual Aunt Kitty's home farm in southland. We met up again when we became boarders at Timaru Girls High school. We were there for 5 years and then went to Otago University Home Science school. In our first year we shared a very small room in Upper Studhome and then second year we moved into the new Studhome Hall to the luxury of each having our own room! Third year we went flatting together and with Jocelyn Morrison. This was when Margaret met John. I went home to teach and Margaret stayed on in Dunedin. I was a bridesmaid at their wedding so a lot of memories over a long time.

So so sorry to hear of Margaret´s passing today. John you are in our thoughts today, and the family of course.
Margaret was a fine woman and I so enjoyed her company over the years we lived on Waiheke. You were both incredible advocates for the olive oil industry in the early days with all your hard work.
Remembering you with fondness Margaret. Go gently ...

I am so grateful to have known Margaret, though I wish our friendship had spanned many more years. We laughed a lot while slurping olive oil, touring Japan and lovely Waiheke Island. She loved her family passionately and was a role model for doing things correctly -and with sparkling humor.

Margaret was one of the world's most accomplished extra virgin olive judges, and the utmost passion she had for the quality of EVOO both in Aoetaroah

To Mark, Nikki, and their families, my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother, Margaret, which I only heard about today when I visited the Barclay´s in Wanaka. Our families were very close in the past, and on many occasions we enjoyed John and Margaret`s hospitality and her tremendous culinary skills. Our thoughts are with you all. Kindest regards, Jim Clayton, Dunedin.

Hello Mark and Brigette and family,
I was so sad to hear Marg has passed, I hope she passed peacefully. I am sorry I don´t live closer to you all and wished I could have seen more of Marg of late. She was so good to me. There was always fun and laughter between us and stories to be told .
I´ve been to your house and I just want to say my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. She was an inspiration with her olive oil. I have good memories of visiting John and Marg in their home at Waiheke and Parnell over the years. John and she made a good pair.
Much love Jocelyn Morrison

My very deepest sympathy to all Margaret´s family. I have warm memories of visiting Margaret´s home in Timaru on Sunday´s from the Timaru Girls High boarding house in 1950´s.
Margaret was an inspiring and kind friend to me. We did share a few escapades!
I will be thinking of you all with love. She also went to primary school with my husband David, now deceased.
Most sincerely,
Joy Slade
