Marcel was a man of integrity and great kindness. Working with him on the Wainoni Park Equestrian Trust gave me insight into what an outstanding man he was - always willing to help, he invested many dedicated hours doing work very few noticed until he did it no more. A huge loss to the Pony Club, his friends, colleagues and family. His wonderful spirit and ready smile will be missed.

Condolences to the De Ruiter family during this time of unexpected loss. Marcel and I reconnected over Facebook earlier this year after some 45 years since we were childhood best friends. I was thrilled to receive Marcels message and since, we shared posts and messages of our lives and families. Marcel and his family shared a common interest of horses and eventing with our family. We revisited the many fond memories of our childhood when we lived in Te Atatu. My parents exotic cars, vintage tank, and the many weekends we would go to Titirangi to clear brush from properties Marcels' parents had bought including Tawini Rd. I quickly learned of Marcels devotion to his family and daughters, and of the many Facebook 'likes' he received to his posts from many friends. He loved life. Rest well my friend.

Rest in peace Marcel. Though our contact came through work you were always so kind and fair. You treated your suppliers with such loyalty and care. The crew at Watermark Creative both here in NZ and Aussie will miss you. You were a wonderful person to work with both at a professional and personal level. It is with such sadness we send our love to all your family during this time of grief and loss. We will miss you mate.

Such a shock, my heart and thoughts go to Marcel’s family.
I have known Marcel for 15 years, first at Lowe, then DDB, he was a great friend and part of my advertising family. Gone way too soon, such fond memories of a beautiful kind man

de RUITER, Marcel. All of us at DDB Group are immeasurably saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Marcel. Marcel had been with the agency for more than 13 years and made many friends along the way. He was a dedicated, kind, helpful and caring man. DDB is a family and Marcel was a huge part of its heart. Our love and support go to his wife Helena, daughters Annemieke and Bianca, and all his family.

de RUITER, Marcel. September 30, 1961 - September 23, 2020. We all stood on your shoulders, Marcel. No finer man, a true gentleman, loved and very much respected. It was such an honour and a privilege for us all to have been part of your team. You will live on in our memories but the hole you leave is immense. Kua hinga te tōtara i te wao nui a Tāne. Haere atu rā e te rangatira, haere, haere, moe mai rā. Rest in peace, our mighty chief. From all of us in Studio, past and present.
