Marc Robert POWER

Marc POWER Obituary

POWER, Marc Robert. Passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 63. Marc was born in Auckland to Thomas Power (formerly Thomas Kukucs) and Winsome Snowden. When he was a baby Marc was diagnosed with Lennox- Gastaut syndrome with severe intellectual disability. He lived at home for the first several years of his life before being placed at Mangere Psychopaedic Hospital in Mangere, Auckland. Since March 1995 he has been living under the care of Rescare Homes Trust, sharing a lovely home in Weymouth with his house mates. The family wish to thank all the staff, the service managers and senior leaders who have supported Marc over the years and enabled him to experience as much as life could offer him. Special thanks to Donna Hegarty and Jill Burroughs who knew Marc from when he was at Mangere Hospital and always kept an eye on him. We acknowledge the role of the Rescare Auckland parents and friends group who believed there was another way to provide a good life for the residents of Mangere Hospital. Special thanks to the trustees of Rescare Homes Trust for taking the vision and making it real. He will lie at Karetu Marae, Kawakawa on Wednesday 22 April. The service will be held on Thursday 23 April at 10am. Haere ra to our much loved son, brother and uncle. Travel safely.
