I have known my cousin Butch all of my life. Due to the fact that I have lived in Australia for the last 40 years, we didn't catch up nearly as often as I would have liked. But on a Saturday night in December last year Dot and I went out for a meal with Bev and Butch at a Thai restaurant just over the road from the Napier Sailing club. Despite the fact that Butch was already seriously ill he was so charming, positive and generous with his time that night. He and Bev drove us around the sights of Napier and we had a really nice catch up, which I will now hold forever as a precious memory.
I can't stop thinking about how much like his father Butch had become. Ron was also a gentle, cheerful, positive and generous man and I count myself privileged to have called Ron my Hawkes Bay uncle.
Well done Butch. What a difference you have made to the lives of those who knew you.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin Butch.
Condolences to Zel, Bev, Rosie, Wayne, Angela and familes
I have so many great memories of Butch, 6yrs older than me, while growing up and later admired has amazing exploits as a racer. He accomplished so much with nothing but his hard work and talent. Had he ventured overseas racing professionally I believe he would now be a household name like our Bruce McLaren but family life came first.
Butch was one of kind with a list of attributes too long to list here. Many men share some of his attributes but few share all of them
Rest in well deserved peace Sir

The word legend can be used many times and not earned,Butch certanly earned that title. He put so much time and energy into the HB Rod and Custom club and the work that himself and many others put into Thunderpark was amazing.I had the privilage to be part of the era with him.Dr Zivargo and the imortal wheelstand that day will never be forgotton.R.I.P Big Guy,Rest easy.

My deepest sympathies to all Malcolm's family. I was mortified to hear of his passing. Malcolm was a person I looked up to in the motor industry, he was a person of great knowledge and skill, while prepared to share that knowledge with myself and others in the sometimes unforgiving and tough automotive industry. Thank you Malcolm for being an idle, mentor and friend to me you will be dearly missed but always remembered.
Kindest thoughts from Richard Field and all from Lodge Auto Centre ltd.
