Our big brother and uncle has died unexpectedly in Machu Pichu. He had a wonderful, adventurous life, but family was always top priority. We will all miss him so much and treasure his memory. With love from Jenny, Jacky and Dave, John, Suzanne and Barry, Rachel and Shane, and their families.

Very sad to hear of Malcolm's passing. He was a very kind soul who was also a keen and very sharp sedimentologist. He'll be missed ...

I had the great fortune to work with Malcolm in the field while a vacation student worker with NZGS back in 1983/1984. Malcolm was a great teacher and mentor and I learned more during my short time with Malcolm than from my three years of university study.

Malcolm you were indeed a Gentleman Geologist and you will be sadly missed.

Good memories of Malcolm joining Tamsin during field work around Kaikoura. Great dad and roll model.
