Lynn, though you have left earth, I will remember your skill as a carver with the wonderful Kauri Carving Dolphin Boy. I purchased it from your exhibition when I met you at the Auckland Home Show ,was it 1983 ?
You were carving it at that show.
You and your wife brought it down to my Solitaire Lodge where it stood at the entrance until I sold it .Dolphin Boy then came with me to Cassimir Lodge where it again stood at the entrance admired by international travelers. You so deserved recognition when the book Green Art published Dolphin Boy among other world artists. Today I still own it, and care for its preservation.

Lynn was a man of many talents. I first met Lynn some fifty years ago when he was a pupil of mine at St. Paul's Collegiate School in Hamilton. I taught, among other subjects in those days, woodwork and physical education. These two subjects were where Lynn excelled. He was a very competent schoolboy athlete, and his ability in the workshop was remarkable for a 'junior' in the school. I taught him cabinet making skills, but his free form carving skill was completely self taught.
Because of our shared interests we remained in contact over the years. If one is a school teacher for many years, you remember the talented pupils and the ones who had a negative impact, and if one is honest the vast majority tend to become lost to one's memory. Lynn was a special pupil and a special man, and I will always remember him.
