When I heard the news I was instantly saddened. I have had contact with Lou for a number of years now and thoroughly enjoyed our emails to and fro not only about what was happening with both our families, but all the jokes ... they were classic!!
Our thoughts and love go to Linda, Robin, Grant and Lorna
Yes, the end of a great act that can not be filled but will never be forgotten.
Regards

I have a lot of fond memories of the good times we had from the time my Dad, the late Mahan Singh, purchased the house you and Lorna lived in at 166 Great South Road in Drury dating some 40 years now. You only moved 2 houses down and I remember the mini golf course you used have at the back of that house, not to forget the door less toilet. When I was growing up as a kid in Drury and attending Drury School around the mid 70's, you were so kind enough to get me a calf which I could come to your paddock at the time and train it so I could participate in Drury Schools annual Calf Club. That year, which was the first and only time I took a calf, I got a Highly Commended, I owe that to your kindness and generosity. My older brother Manjit who Lou nicknamed "Black Magic", had a strong bond with Lou and also Freddie Hemara and Kevin Greaves who both were prodigies of Lou's Talent quests and were regular visitors to Lou's Recording studio he had set up.
Manjit also played cricket with Lou's son Grant.
I have lived in the same house for over 40 years now and Lou your name has been and will forever remain etched in this property.
Whenever I would give instructions to anyone to come to our house I would always say its the only double story brick house just down from Drury School, but would always say afterwards "the house that Lou Clausen (Lou & Simon) used to live in", most would already know where to come.
Lou your legacy will remain deep in our hearts forever and also this property.
The Clauson Trio; Nan, you and Mum back together again.

Hi uncle Lou, I told you at your 85th birthday party and I am just reminding you that you meant a great deal to me when I was growing up. I liked taking the bus through to Manurewa and Manukau to watch your talent quests. To watch Kevin on the guitar and you singing and Hemi was there too later on. The look on the kids' faces as you gave them their prizes of Bluebird, Watties and Tip Top goodies, “here, have another one” you would say, it was fun! And I thank you for those memories.
The times Mum, Tracey, you and I spent at Papamoa and at Orere Point with Nan were great. Visiting you in your studio and listening to your young entertainers; Hemi, Tracey Cox and Donald Murray, Annie Crummer and the rest. The photos of you and Simon on your studio walls along with others; Princess Margaret or was it Anne? the records you used to play were great, I remember watching a show of you and Simon singing something where you kept swapping hats and changing your voices to match the hat, it was great.
You helped mum out too by giving her Tip Top, Watties and Bluebird products ; Tracey and I found the chips under mum's bed, or maybe it was just inquisitive me.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for those memories, the times with Nan in your flat and when she stayed in your unit while you were travelling. Oh yeah, that's right, you used to give us an itinerary of where you were on what date, Nan used to send you letters to your next destination. We used to look over that itinerary and talk about where you were. Then you had the ‘Dinah Shore suitcase' I called it, with your all your travel stickers over it, I borrowed that to go to Australia. I remember arriving at your unit one time and as Nan stepped out of the car, for some reason I looked at her shoes and noticed that she was not wearing a 'pair', well they were probably a pair or at least she had another pair of the same ones at home. When I pointed this out to her she said “I wondered why I was walking funny”.
My flatmate has some of you and Simon's 45's, we were playing them a couple of weekends ago and will continue playing them.
Thank you for the jokes you send through, I have shared many with my friends.
Thank you for bringing music to my life Lou and taking care of mum and nan in your own way.
Love you Uncle Lou with the utmost respect.

Dear Lou, You will be so sadly missed. We remember especially the "Concert"at Lady Elizabeth you arranged for Ella's 105th Birthday on the 23 April, 2013. This was probably the last time you sang in public and this meant so much to Ella. You gave so much pleasure to so many people. We ALL have only happy memories of you. Rest in Peace.
