Lorraine WOODS Obituary

WOODS, Lorraine Carol (nee Crocombe). Unexpectedly and suddenly died at home in Hahei on Thursday 13-April-23, aged 68 years. She was married for 40 years and was a registered nurse for over 40 years (including 14 as a Whitianga District Nurse). Her parents were Cyril and Daphne Crocombe of Auckland, both deceased. She is survived by her husband Richard, two sisters (Kathy O'Keefe and Jill Miller), brother David Crocombe and their families in New Zealand, Australia and USA. Lorraine traveled widely and worked as a nurse in NZ, Australia, USA, Indonesia, Egypt, Pakistan and Ethiopia. Lorraine loved dogs and gardening, was an experienced scuba diver, a gourmet cook and gracious hostess for the many friends and family who frequently visited and already miss her deeply. Lorraine specified that she be cremated with no public service, but an informal gathering at the Hahei farm to celebrate her exceptional life will likely be held sometime later this year.

Have sadly only just seen this. I remember Lorraine from over 50 years ago, so many memories, all of them good, Lorraine was a totally wonderful person in every way and my young life was so much the better for having known her.

I worked with a Lorraine Woods at Capricorn Coal in Brisbane in 1979. Short and blonde like me. We lost touch when I moved away. Have thought of her often. Such a wonderful person. Xxx
