Lionel WILSON Obituary

Over the years we at Napier Pirates Rugby Club hosted Sir Colin Meads in his role of Patron for Arch Chemicals (our Major Sponsor). On one of his visits, he asked if I could find an old Rugby Friend of his 'Lionel Wilson'. I tracked Lionel to his home in Guppy Road, then found him having a Saturday Roll up at the Omarunui Bowling Club. Lionel was very happy to come along that night to catch up with Sir Colin. They chatted for hours and then both expressed their enjoyment and appreciation of their catch up. I met up with Lionel a couple of times on the Green at Omarunui Bowling Club and then lost touch with him. Lionel was always very appreciative of his catch up and mentioned many times of their playing days and the stories that COULD BE TOLD but were not.lol My condolences to Lionel's Family as he was very much a Gentleman.

Condolences to Lionel's family. I worked with Lionel at North City, a very long time ago, and he was an esteemed member of the team. A true gentleman. A proud, talented former Springbok.
