To Lynda, so sorry to hear of Lindsay's passing. Was so shocked and deeply saddened when I received your message today. We will be up in Napier in a few weeks so will try to call in. Lindsay was a lovely caring man who was so welcoming and friendly. We both have fond memories of him and enjoyed his company at a concert we went to at a winery. Our sincere sympathy for you and your family. You have truely lost an awesome gentle, caring man.

To Lynda and Family

So sorry to hear of Lindsay's passing, he was a kind heart person with great Mana.
I first met him when he came into our Office for a meeting but as he wasn't wearing a badge and I had only just started working for Work and Income Gisborne I asked him what his business was and if he had ID, to my boss's horror, she introduced me to our Regional Commissoner, since then we became friends and he would tell people of his encounter with me.

"An officer and a gentleman" was never truer than for our dear Lindsay. We enjoyed the wealth of his wisdom, humour, candour, humanity and consideration. When deep in thought, he would fold his arms, rock on the back legs of his chair and offer profound deep insights that would challenge our thinking - often followed by a shrug or a laugh! He loved his people, his community and the chance to make a difference.
Lynda and family - our deepest condolences to you. Lindsay was an absolute treasure and we thank you for sharing him with those of us who had the privilege to work with him at the Ministry of Social Development.

Lindsay has spent many years working with Immigraiton New Zealand and teh horticulture/viticulture sector and was a key part in ensuring the Recognised Seasonal Emloyer system was effectively balanced with New Zealand workers. On a personal note, having known Lindsay across the last 15 years, I always found him to be a true gentleman with a kind heart who always had a smile and time for a chat. My condolences to his family and the REgional Commissioner team as I know he was a treasured friend and colleague.

Words can not describe the depth of the grief you must be feeling over the loss of Lindsay, a husband, a father and a friend.
I am forever grateful for the time and support he showed me as a staff member but more importantly as a friend. I will always remember his generous nature, and his devotion to his family and his years of service in his work. But most of all I will treasure the good times we had and the laughter that we shared.

Scotty,
Rest in Peace. An ode...

"From cross the Ditch he came
A quiet leader, strong and true
He sought no glory or no fame
Just hope and pride in life so new

Rest now good friend, long live your name
Much fulfilled in life's long queue
Your legacy can make proud claim
Love, respect from whom all you knew

We were young, fit lads, not lame
Through Army and beyond we grew
Yet now old, all stay the same
Our spirit lives, we 'happy few'."
