To Glenda & all of Leo´s family.
Sending love & condolences from the `Hobbi´ in Devon, UK.
We used to call Leo `bionic man´ because he was always so fit & strong & super serious about remaining healthy following his heart surgery.
We had happy holidays with him in Austria driving all the way from the UK & hiking in the mountains there. He was always fabulous company & so well read making for interesting debate about all sorts of topics.
Sending you all love in your loss.

I send my deepest sympathy to Glenda at this sad time. During his years living and working in England, Leo with Maimie and baby Kathryn used to visit his aunt Mary Hobbis (my grandmother) in Cardiff. Many years later, on a visit from Canada, I joined Leo, my sister Rosemary and her husband Ken, for a marvellous holiday in the Austrian mountains. Since then, we kept in touch with email Christmas letters. I shall remember Leo with great affection - a real gentleman, kind, modest and brilliant.

Leo was an esteemed member of the Auckland Baptist Tramping Club and I remember hiking on a club tramp over Ball Pass in Aoraki Mt Cook NP and in devotions at a vantage point he told he blessed he was to be fit enough to walk in such majestic scenery after his quadruple bypass surgery. Leo was very enthusiastic about hiking in the Dolomites in Italy and he took me on a notable hike. I returned later always planning with Leo and obtaining his advice and maps. He was a role model to all club members.

Dear Glenda and Leo's family, My love and condolences . Leo was best friend to Gordon Jones long ago. They would spend hours together in deep discussion so that the conversation never really ended. Always open to debate the questions of life both in the here and now and the mystery and meaning of eternity. For me, my best memory is of one glorious tramp through the Tasmanian highlands with Leo enthusiastically trailing along in great company with ABTC. Elizabeth

Sincere condolences to the family on the passing of Leo. Years ago just after some heart surgery he commented to us on the St James Walkway that he wasn't sure how long he could keep going. Well he did keep going and went on for many more years. We look forward to joining him one day in exploring the mountains and valleys of the ( new heaven and the) new earth. Roger and Heather Donnell
