Lena Ray Obituary

RAY, Lena Marie (nee Williams). Peacefully, on Monday 14 March 2011, aged 109. Dearly loved wife of Robert (deceased). Loved and respected mother of Adrian (deceased) and mother-in-law of Mona (deceased). Much loved grandmother of Anthony and Dael, Alison (deceased), Alistair and Danielle, Richard and Judith. Great-grandmother of Carole, Michael, Mark and Claire and great-great-grandmother to Reagan. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Te Mana Home and Hospital for the loving care and attention given to Nana Ray over the years. A celebration of Lena's life will be held at the North Harbour Chapel of Dil's Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany at 10am on Monday 21 March followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA Auckland would be appreciated. Messages to the Ray family, C/- PO Box 28253 Remuera, Auckland 1541.

Nana taught me piano when I was 7, more than 40 years ago, and was a life-long friend to my family from her and Pop's Mangakino days. I got to play for her again a few days before her 109th birthday - she told me that I kept good rhythm, which I didn't always do as a student as I recall. May she rest in peace. James
