Lena GEMMELL Obituary

GEMMELL, Lena Gunnel. On the 1st of December 2020 at 5:18pm my sweet wife and the mother of my two boys died in my arms and in the arms of Gill and Vivie, two of her closest friends. She fought her battle to the end against cancer, and never gave up. She was adored by her brother Björn, her mother Gunnel and her father Ivar all living in Sweden and unable to come to be by her side. She was dearly loved by her sons Niklas and Kristoffer. She was adored by her husband Steve and her late father and mother-in-law Peter and Peggie. Having come from Sweden to live in NZ in January 1989, she spread love dust where-ever she travelled. We all love you sweetheart. We were going to grow old together. We wish to sincerely thank Anthony Falkov her head Oncologist for giving us two years of wonderful life together against all odds, Patrick Schweder her surgeon and Catherine Han for their wonderful skills. I give my love and thanks to all her friends who stood by her. Lena will be farewelled at the Anglican Parish of Clevedon, 49 North Road, Clevedon at 11am on the 7th of December.

As it is impossible to remember all the wonderful people who came to bid farewell to my beautiful wife at her funeral.
So via this guestbook, I would like to send my love and gratitude to all those who have given support and love throughout the last 2 years of Lena's gallant and steadfast battle against cancer. Her resolve never faulted and the strength of those around us no doubt helped give her the quality of life she so deserved.
We miss her terribly and always will.
Thankyou to you all.

All my love
Steve, Nik and Kris.

Beautiful Lena, so gorgeous, so smart, our lovely friend you are deeply missed. I will never forget the day, close to 30 years ago when we both were new in the NZ, you came up to me at work and started to talk in Swedish, I was stunned and of course happy to be able to talk my native language with someone, you made my day! Since that day, we've accumulated many happy, funny and crazy memories through the years, together with our families and friends. Lena what we will remember most is what a kind and beautiful soul you are. We'll love you always Lena, or thoughts and lots of love are with Steve, Niklas and Kristofer.

Our dear courageous Lena. A lovely friend and neighbour for many years up at Omaha. We wafched thd boys growing up and how proud she was of their achievments. She was always a dab hand at backing the trailer when her and Steve went fishing. We will miss seeing you up at the beach Lena and send our love and prayers to Steve, Nik and Kris. Xx
