Lena Buffone Obituary

Lena Buffone, 89, of Arnold died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, in Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell.

Born May 22, 1916, in Pittsburgh, to the late Gennaro and Filomena Pellegrino, she was a resident of this area most of her life.

She was a member of Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, and the church Addolorata Society, the Forward America Ladies Lodge and the Columbiana Ladies Lodge, both in Arnold and the Sons of Italy in New Kensington.

She enjoyed baking and at one time, she worked at the former Fifth Avenue Bakery in New Kensington.

Surviving her are her caregiver, Mary Pesce of Lower Burrell; and several nieces and nephews in Italy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Buffone in 1988; and an infant son, Joseph Buffone.

At the request of Mrs. Buffone, there will be no public visitation. A funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., family-owned and -operated for over 60 years, 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold.
