To Bronwyn and our Cavanagh cousins, so very sorry to hear of Laurie´s passing. I remember when you lived near us in our younger days, 2 big families, the Cavanaghs and the Halls, there were a few of us kids close in age. I mainly remember Laurie as being rather quiet, I realised later it may have been because he was surrounded by 3 sisters, Sharon, Kay and Shona (maybe hard to get a word in ) but then Tony came along, followed closely by another 5 wow, Moira, Bridget, Dale, Paul and Desi. A beautiful family. To each of you please accept our sincerest condolences on the loss of your beloved husband and brother. Laurie, I reckon you always knew what you wanted to do and be, I remember you being with horses from a young age and you stayed with that work into adulthood. It was lovely reading previous memoirs from your colleagues, talking about your skill and ability on the track, thank you. You will be sadly missed Laurie. Said with love Xxxx

So sad to learn of the passing of Laurie. I knew him back in the 70s in Matamata . I'm sure he was apprentice to Jim Gibbs.i remember Laurie as being a very polished rider and a really nice bloke.
My condolences to the family.
