Really sorry to hear about Laurie. I didn't know him well, but he was my go-to guy whenever I needed a bit of aluminium welding done during the build of my Hell Pizza '56 Chevy drag car many years ago. Without fail, he was helpful, interested, did a great job, and provided great service. His passion for designing, building, and racing drag bikes was obvious, and immense. It's bloody sad when someone loses their life doing what they love most.

Workmate at Martin Eng, friend at Webster Eng, making my bashplates on his folder while talking for hours about his bike, marveling at the pile of "near misses" in the scrap bin that told the story of the latest genius solution to another problem overcome on his drag racing journey,,,,
Rest in peace Laurie my friend.

Even though I haven't seen my Uncle Laurie for many many years, not since I was a little girl, I am very saddened to learn of his passing. I have very fond memories of Uncle Laurie. With love, Mel.
