What an amazing send off Lance was given by Marie and Lance´s family and his Unitech family, who honoured him with being farewelled at the Unitech Campus Marae. One was left in no doubt, with family friends and colleagues reiterating what a wonderful, kind, caring, generous patient and funny person Lance was! His brilliance through his own schooling and his desire to help, mentor and use his teaching skills, sometimes unconventional and applied with humour, were legendary. Farewell Lance loved by all who knew you - and now I´ll be on my own doing the crossword at your and Marie´s home!

Lance was truely a nice guy. A great sense of humour and a friendly manner. We had numerous times together with family (Robertson/ Stevenson) at Thatcher St (Shirley's place). I only played golf with Lance once. My enduring memory was how easy he made the game look!

Oh Lance, I'm so sad to hear of your passing. I just loved working with you in the Learning Centre at Unitec. You were always happy, laughing, a great friend to both staff and students. Such a bright shining star. You will be greatly missed. Your friend and ex- colleague, Jan Patterson

To Lance
Without Lance's help i don't know if i would have completed my studies, i spent nearly every day of my first 2 years in his office, always welcomed and enjoyed my time with him. I know that to me and many others he had a massive impact on our study and lives.
Much Love
