Lance O'GORMAN Obituary

O'GORMAN, Lance. Frances Davies and the team at International Art Centre bid a sad farewell to Lance O'Gorman. An artist of singular talent whose career spanned over five decade. Lance was a Kelliher Award winning artist, a member of the New Zealand, Australian and British Fellowship of Artists and the author of several books. He was a generous mentor and teacher, always ready to share his considerable knowledge with others. Our condolences go to Christine and the family and we are ever grateful for his contribution to the world of art.

I am so sorry for your loss Christine, Dean and Brett. He inspired me so much to start painting again. My plan was to come to New Zealand in a couple of years to meet this amazing talent and awe inspiring man who was able to bring me back to the craft I was gifted. I am sending you my heartfelt condolences during this sad and trying time. Even though I haven't met the legend, his love of art will live on in my heart and in the paintings I will continue to create because of the extraordinary talent of Lance O'Gorman.

We are devastated to read of Lance´s passing in this morning´s Herald and send our love and kind wishes to Christine and the family at this sad time.
Remembering the catch-up we had not so long ago, Lance was a special man whose artistic talent and volume of work, now spread far and wide, will be his lasting legacy and I was very proud to call him my cousin, and to also have one of his paintings in our home.
Thinking of you at this time.
