URLICH, Kevin Andrew. 4 February 1944 - 10 February 2025. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Kevin Andrew Urlich, who passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday 10th February 2025, after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children in his final moments, leaving us just days after celebrating his 81st birthday with family and friends in Orewa. Kevin was a devoted father to Leanne, Brendon, Fionna and Heidi, a cherished grandfather to Kristyan, Francheska, Jaydon, Millar, Luka, Reilly, Niko, Mila and Mason, and a much loved father-in-law to Matthew, Kerry, Jason and Trevor. He built his family legacy with his ex-wife, Joy, mother to his children, and found companionship with his partner, Kiran. Kevin was a loved brother to Janice, Colleen and Diane, and brother-in-law to Niko (deceased), Wayne and Ivo. Born in the Far North of New Zealand, Kevin followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, farming the land in Herekino before settling in Kaitaia and later Auckland. In recent years, he embraced his new home in Orewa, where he loved walking the beach, enjoying the ocean, and building a strong network of friends over good coffee and great conversation. A small private family ceremony will be held on Monday 17th February 2025. We invite all who knew and loved Kevin to join us in celebrating his life on Friday 21st February 2025 at 1pm at Red Beach Surf Club, Ngapara Street, Red Beach, Hibiscus Coast. Kevin's send-off will be a true reflection of the man he was - filled with laughter, good memories, music and shared stories. We encourage everyone to bring along their favourite memories of Kevin so we can celebrate a life well lived, rather than dwell in the sadness of losing him. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Kevin's memory with an act of kindness, a walk on the beach, or raising a coffee in his name. Forever in our hearts, always walking beside us.
