Sorry Im so late, Always remember the crazy drives Blackpool, The Kite Club, and the Norbreck and then Singapore.

You nwere the one constant thing that was present in my family's life. We would turn the radio on and there you were, it was the best radio station ever & I am so ever grateful. Love the music & rock it out....

'The Boat That Rocked' Long hair, blue jeans and a smile that melted hearts. You owned it all 'Blackie' and changed radio forever. Thanks and farewell.

Thankyou Blackie for all those wonderful mornings,laughter,phonecalls and goodies from your prize cupboard. Nobody could stay grumpy with your morning show. We just tuned up the volume. So much laughter and tears as your calls fooled many. Music is food for the soul. Keep it playing up there Blackie, loud and long. Tootle pip. Love to the family. Music fan. Auckland.

It is still a shock - but I owe you ... my big thanks for your massive input helping to get Hauraki to its first ever clear number one in Auckland ratings (1978). As Programme Director in that era you always made our lives fascinating. To many people you will be missed and never be forgotten.
It was always inspiring to work with you as Programme Director - thanks for the memories.

You wrote the book...that everyone else read from going forward. The Legend with a capital L

Blackie, I had a big crush on you as a 15 year old teenager - and can remember finally getting to meet you at the Shortland street studio where you kindly gave me and my best friend a personal tour of the studio. I still have your autograph too, from those 36 years ago! It reads "lots of love and good things". I will treasure that always. Sue

I never go to meet Kevin but listening to Blackie inspired me to get into radio. If it wasn't for Blackie I'd probably have real job, so in your honour on Monday a toast with an icy cold coke from the promo cupboard. OK... maybe not JUST coke. Vale Blackie- You were THE best.

A huge loss his family, his friends, work mates and the world in general. A kind voice when one was needed, a voice of reason and sense when others could not be heard. God speed gentle man and rest well, you deserve it all.

I will miss you Blackie, R I P. Spent many happy mornings listening to you & the brekettes on the wireless. You were one of the best, & will not be forgotten.

You have been a very humble, decent and highly intelligent mentor throughout my life Kevin. Thank you for all your kindness, steadfast strength and much appreciated humour especially in the sweatbox. My thoughts are with your family and all the many, many friends who knew Kevin.

I still remember the time you visited me in hospital like you did every week,and you said sorry Jo I wont be able to come next week cos Im flying to Fiji to get married to Kevin!! So Ican remember clearly when you were married.

It was an era that shaped the exciting medium called radio. An era when the audience couldn't wait till the song finished so they could hear what you were gonna say and do next .. You were 'The Master' and will always be the yardstick players measure themselves against. RIP Kevin Joseph Black!

I Remember as a kid listening to you and Fred Bonika every morning, it's where I got my music education from.
The Hauraki Pirates at the top of the dial, as good as Radio gets. So long brother, R.I.P Blackie you were the best!

Blackie, we made each other laugh through the 80's and I love you for that. Thanks for letting me be part of your breakfast madness, it's a memory I'll always treasure. Always thought the celebration of your life would be at "Our Lady of the Broken Windows" but I guess St. Pat's is pretty close to that. I hope they play some of your exquisite candid calls. Wow!!! Blackie's gone. Can't believe it. Well me old matey - thanks for so many great memories of times spent together, times in the Hauraki studio, times over-looking Westhaven, the Grand ole villa in Onehunga & finally - behind the "Gardens". Aren't they gunna miss their super Super!!!! Seems to early for you to leave the party Kev - but your timing was well beyond my questioning so happy trails me old mate.
