Vittoria GATTI Obituary

GATTI, Vittoria (born Bergamini) September 9, 1923 - January 26, 2018 Vittoria passed away peacefully in her sleep early Friday morning at Sunrise Senior Living Dollard-des-Ormeaux, with her faithful cat by her side. Daughter of Emilia Della Vedova and Vittorio Bergamini, Vittoria will be sorely missed by her loving children Alessandra and Alberto (Tracey MacKenzie), her cherished granddaughters Olivia and Mia, her sister Liliana and her nephews Emilio and Vittorio. She started her Canadian adventure when she emigrated from Milan (Italy) to Montreal in 1960 with her husband Amedeo and her daughter Alessandra. Her son Alberto was born in Montreal a few years later. She had a very fulfilling social life, attending numerous business functions and events organized mainly by local Canadian politicians and the Italian Consulate. Thirsty for knowledge, she loved to travel abroad and to keep up with political and economic news. She was at her happiest when she could engage in stimulating conversations about politics, history and current events. In more recent years, she found a new love: The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She relished studying for the upcoming exhibitions where she gave guided tours to groups of students and adults alike. She will be sorely missed by many and remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour, her incredible tact and respect for others, her full commitment to any task that she undertook, her undeniable love for her family and her strong will to get the job done even through the hardest of circumstances. You will always be in our heart. Funeral will take place on Monday February 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Paroisse Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, 5366 Côte-des-Neiges Road, Montreal. Interment at Cimetière Notre-Dame-des-Neiges immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Mary's Hospital (Montreal) would be greatly appreciated.
