Condolences to Barabara and family. I first met Keith in the early 60's when we were kids in Pukeora Ave, Remuera. His dad Bill and Mum were very kind to us. I played with his sister Jane. It was so good to catch up with him at Air NZ all those years later.
Rest in deep eternal peace friend.

I remember Keith flew right around the world in the 747 to see if it was a crewing option. Auckland Los Angeles London Hong Kong Auckland. He found the time zone changes a bit tough so we continued to operate in either direction to London then back the way we came. A friendly helpful fleet manager. Rip Captain.

The sad news about Keith Pattie affected me deeply; I was associated with two generations of Captain Patties - Bill, the Second World War RNZAF Corsair fighter pilot who went into civil aviation at war´s end, and Keith who followed his Dad into civil flying twenty five years later.
Bill had an irrepressible sense of humour which he found hard to control, one particular occasion being their son's first flight as captain in command. Bill was so proud that he secretly bought a ticket on Keith's first P i C flight.
Just before engine start, captain Keith did the usual `Welcome Aboard´ to his passengers, unaware two were his parents ! Bill couldn´t control his pride and summoned the stewardess. "Is that captain Keith Pattie from Howick?" he pointed forward to the cockpit.
"Yessir, do you know him?"
"No, but I once had a love affair with his mother!" Bill responded, which concerned the young stewardess, who hurried to the cockpit to convey her concern to the captain.
"Yeah, that´ll be my father," Keith never even blinked. "Always a trouble maker - watch him!"
Its a sobering thought that both of them are reunited in Heaven. CAA should issue a NOTAM warning everybody up there about them !

Keith was a warm, friendly, caring person. Meet Keith in Flight Ops during his time as B747 Fleet Manager and later at BBYC centreboard sailing. One of the very best Fleet Managers I had the pleasure to work with. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
