HOGAN, Kay Diane. Born August 21, 1959. Passed away at home peacefully after a sudden illness, surrounded by Whanau on Monday 8th of April. Dearly beloved daughter of the late George and Mary. Sister to Margaret. Aunty to Andrea and Anthony. Great aunt to Dylan, Savarnah, Aidan and Sienna. Friend and colleague of many staff, doctors and nurses at Waitakere and North Shore Hospital where she worked for a combined 47 years. A life dedicated to caring for others, taken tragically too soon. Reunited now with her adored Mum and Dad. Her funeral service will be held at the Waikumete Chapel 1 on Wednesday, 24th of April at 11am. Refreshments will be served following the service. Followed by a gathering at home where everyone is welcome to come and share stories and remember Kay. Kay will be cremated and later interred at Swanson Cemetery with her Mum and Dad. Special thanks to Ronnie, Heather and Jocelyn who cared for her so lovingly and the staff at Waitakere and North Shore Hospital. We will never forget you.

Kay and I shared early morning chats over the last two years. She was welcoming, supportive and always knowledgeable. Kay's special twinkle is a sorry loss in our lives, and I am thinking of her close whanau and friends at this sad time.

It's been probably 50 odd years since I last saw Kay. We were in school together and my grandparents used to live on Swanson Road, just around the corner from Arney Road, where the Hogans lived. We played netball together, and these are some of my fondest memories of high school and Kay. What a team, we were at the top of the competition. See here in the photo, with Kay sitting in front of me. Of course, we all went our own way after the school years. I have looked for Kay and see she had a career with Waitakere Hospital..I regret I didn't try harder to make contact again but I will always cherish my teenage friendship with you..I hope you rest easy now Kay...
