Kathryn MATHESON-DMITRIEFF Obituary

MATHESON-DMITRIEFF, Kathryn Mary (Matt). On August 5, 2013, at Arohanui Hospice. Surround by family and friends, after a courageous battle, taken from us far too soon. Dearly loved wife of Ivan and adored mother of Vincent. Dearly loved daughter of June Gadsby and the late Graeme Matheson. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Fiona and John, Heather and Simon, Leslie and Bridget, Katya and Mike, daughter-in-law of Nina and the late Stephen Dmitrieff. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully received for the benefit of Arohanui Hospice and the Brightwater Home Activities Programme. Kathryn's life will be celebrated at All Saints Church, Taradale, on Friday, August 9, 2013, at 11am. Messages to PO Box 293, Napier.

Nearly 10 years on, as I now live on the other side if the world, I have discovered my best friend from primary school was taken too young.

At school Kathryn was Kathryn K, and I, Cathryn C. We did many things together, making up clubs, loving the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, (Kathryn was a good reader); talking, walking to school together every day, counting the cats we saw.
Much love and I hope you are at peace Kathryn.

Kathryn was a very dear friend who I will cherish knowing. As a student nurse we had lots of fun and later in life she was a very proud wife and mother.
