Kathleen STEAD Obituary

STEAD, Kathleen Elizabeth (Kay). For 68 years beloved wife of Karl. Devoted and brilliant mother of Oliver, Charlotte and Margaret, and adored grandmother of Isaac and Gabriella, Conrad, Madeleine and Leo, and Joey and Bella. Born 24.12.1933, died 29.7.2023. The whole family is deeply sad to lose our much-loved Kay. A funeral service for Kay will be held at the Maclaurin Chapel, 18 Princes Street, Auckland CBD, on Saturday 12th August at 11am.

Gosh, what a blow Kay and Oliver within a year. I have not seen the Steads, nor Karl & Kay for a very long time but Kay was immeasurably kind to me, (as was Karl) & offered me safe harbour during a very difficult time in my young life. Rest in peace Kay.

While not unexpected, I am so sorry to hear of Kay's death. I will treasure her in memory as one of the first friends my adult-hood in Auckland. To Karl and family I send love and condolences.

My clearest memories of Kay are of her taking her grandchildren, (Charlotte´s children) down to play off the jetty at the bottom of our garden, and playing with them under our gingko tree. She was so patient and relaxed.
My thoughts are with Karl & family.
