So sorry to hear of the loss I have fond memories of visiting the Haddad family home with my Father John Pavletich.

They are happy memories where the music played for hours so much happiness and I remember the plum tree the tastiest plums ever.

Such a beautiful family. Sorry for the loss

Thoughts and love are with the Haddads family as they farewell an Otorohanga icon and friend of so so many today. After living in Australia for almost 10 years we moved home and I was approached by John and Karam to work in the store. I had just found out I was pregnant soo My daughter Savanna got the job and worked there for almost 2 years. Both Karam and John were such great role models for her and support. We will never forget the generosity and support they have given our family over the years Thank you for being a part of our lives Karam and John. Always remembered and respected by so so many. All our love

Gosh, what a sad day when I heard the news. I used to leave my shopping needs until I was passing through so I could have the pleasure of visiting Haddads store. Such colorful characters John and Karram. Bless you all who have to carry on and RIP Jarram. Thanks for the memory.

I first came to Otorohanga as a young herd tester in August 1972, newly imported from England. I remember shopping at Karam Haddad's for my first pair of walk shorts and walk socks among other stylish Kiwi menswear items. Even then, as young men, not much older than me, you could tell Karam and John weren't your average menswear salesmen. But over those three years or four years that I was a regular customer, I always knew I was buying quality at a good price. I moved south after the herd testing but have called in now and then for good workwear over the years as their reputation has grown. I've felt proud to have been a customer from way back and always enjoyed the repartee at each visit, the last one being just a couple of months ago. It was a terrible shock to hear of Karam's passing and I pass on my deepest sympathy to John and the rest of the family.

Our family are saddened to hear of Karam's passing. The late John Pavletich and the Haddad family were great friends for many years. My sister and I have fond childhood memories of regularly visiting the family home with our father. Lots of music, laughter and fun. Absolutely loved the last visit at the shop a year ago. Karam & John shared stories of the good old days which brightened our day and put a smile on everyone's faces.
Rest in Peace Karam. You are sorely missed.

Our deepest sympathies from all the members of his Canadian family - first cousins who came from Lebanon decades ago. We had the pleasure of meeting both John and Karam 4 years ago for the first time on our visit to New Zealand-completely by chance. I remember Karam saying to me as we met "you look just like my daughter...are we related?" My husband Samir and I feel blessed to have had the chance to get to know this wonderful man, full of humour and stories to tell about the our family. Our thoughts go out to John and Karam's children and grandchildren during this difficult time. Sending you all our love. Nathalie and Samir, Toronto, Canada

I first saw karam on tv with his brother talking about their shop in otorohonga. We passed through months later and I saw the brothers in the shop thinking I know these guys but how? Finally worked it out. We decided to go inside and tell the guys we watched them on tv. Karam was chuffed and thanked us for coming in. My husband bought a pair of overalls and was impressed with karams knowledge. Such cool brothers. I feel very sad to have met such an icon in Nz and to have lost him so tragedy. Such a tragic loss to otorohonga.
I feel like I´ve lost a friend. Rest In Peace Karam.
