Our heartfelt condolences go to Carolyn, Trent and family. It is such a shock. Julian took our eldest son, Lewis, into his scaffolding business which set him on his way. We would often see Julian out for a run and at various swim/run events over the years. Julian will always be remembered as a hard worker, kind, quiet and caring gentleman. Sorry we can't be with you on Thursday. We will be thinkng of you all.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Carolyn and the family.
Julian was a true gentleman.
Along with Carolyn, we enjoyed many years of learning Ballroom dance together.
At that time, my son Jason had the desire to be a builder and Julian offered him an apprenticeship upon leaving school. Julian was as good as his word. I am very grateful for his genuine interest and expertise in guiding Jason through a successful apprenticeship.
In later years, my daughter Melanie enjoyed working with Julian at Coles Scaffolding.
Julian was a quiet determined man who had many outstanding achievements.
It has been an absolute privilege to have known him.

What a shock to us all! I remember seeing you at Rogers“s party and that bought back lovely memories of sharing family times together. I loved how Julian was a very talented guy for almost everything he tried. Being a loving and great parent to Leighton and Trent. And as a couple Carolyn you guys were made for each other. I am so sad for you all. Thinking of you and will be attending on line. Sending huge hugs to you xxxx Mary Nicolson

I believe it was 1988 when I encountered the family of Peter Whale, Carolyn's father and therefore Julian. Like myself and Carolyn, Julian did his National Service in NZ Army, I may have stayed in service a bit longer. Julian, I knew, was considerate and focused on family and their life aims and respected by friends and very enterprising. Was builder working with father in law and in time by himself and moved into the scaffolding business. His business was well operated and his skills extended in recent years to build his own light aircraft and, with Carolyn, piloted the flying machine around various parts of New Zealand. He will be missed and my thoughts are very much with Carolyn, family and those who knew him as this was not an expected event. I understand from experience the shock all are now feeling and to them my condolences. Julian, thanks for the memories, you will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace fellow soldier and it is a privilege to have known you.
