Judith, six years since your passing! You have been remembered tonight as one of your first nursing students spoke of you, and I realised we were classmates at Grammar in the 50s - and last met at our 1991 Form 6 reunion.. God bless, and Rest in the closer presence of God - as do a few of our classmates now.

Judith, I deeply mourn your passing. You were simply, and indelibly, inspirational. A gifted, compassionate, and most talented talisman has departed way too soon. I, in kinship with so many others, was touched by your mercurial nature, your presence, your elegant lyricism, and your wisdom. It was a privilege to have experienced your enduring support and mentorship. You made it great to be a nurse and great to be alive. I will miss you dearly. With love, murray.

There is a saying, I believe it goes something like this 'I am a better person for having had you in my life'. Judith, this is so of you in my life. You were a key person who shaped me and moulded me into the kind of person I am in my personal and professional life. You taught me how to think, challenge, critique and not to avoid or run away from hard or difficult moments.
'Kua hinga te Tootara i Te Waonui a Taane'
'A tootora has fallen in the great forest of Taane'
A Maaori sentiment fitting for a great New Zealand nurse scholar, educator and nurse.
Rest now.

Judith, Judy I first met you when you came to work at Auckland Inland Revenue in 1959. Unbeknowing to each of us we both applied to go nursing at the same time in September 1960 and were in the same class and both went to Greenlane Hospital to work. You were a good friend and we shared holidays, experiences, familiesand I stayed with you at several of your homes. You were important in my life and my life has been blessed by our friendship. I never ceased to admire you as to how much work yo did after others went to sleep. Your work will live on both in nursing and the commitment to all things Salvation Army. God had specially chosen you to do this work and now He has called you home to Bless Him. Thank you my life has been enriched by knowing you and our being good friends.

I will always remember Judith as the committed nurse who set up the Wellington Polytechnic School of Nursing. I was in the second class at that school. I have always held Judith in high regard I wish to acknowledge the great work she did to further the professionalism of nurses.
RIP Judith - gone but not forgotten.
