Joye is fondly remembered by National Guiding Friends throughout New Zealand.
I remember her especially for JENYF( The Joye Evans National Youth Forum) and her total support and encouragement of young leaders in New Zealand.
I held the position of National Youth Adviser from 1997-2002, along with Assistant National Youth Adviser Sonia Allpress. We mentored 14-25 year olds in Girl Guiding New Zealand. We were very privileged to co-ordinate five youth forums during those years. We were so grateful that Joye had had the foresight to see how important it was to involve young leaders in decision making.
She was inspirational in all manner of ways, to many members of Girl Guiding New Zealand .
National Guiding Friends co-ordinator.
Auckland Guiding Friends Co-ordinator.

I admired Joye's enthusiastic 'get-up-and-go' attitude. As Chief Commissioner she was in the right position at the right time to take Guiding forward for the benefit of girls and women.

Joye was an amazing lady!
Highly organised and a very clear thinker; she was a great mentor. Her contribution to humanity via cardiology, Guides, and organising the first Daffodil Day in NZ from their garage are just a few! RIP Joye

Aunty Joye - a wonderful lady full of life who was an inspiration to everyone she knew. Ahead of her time in so many ways. A life well travelled and well lived. Always lots of fun. We will miss you greatly!

A remarkable leader who gave so much to Girlguiding NZ as Chief Commissioner. We benefit today from the inspiration she gave.
