Joseph OTIMI Obituary

OTIMI, Joseph Rees Hohepa (Joe). Born April 02, 1969. Passed away on December 29, 2014. We the family of Joseph Rees Hohepa Otimi wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the St Johns Ambulance Turangi and Omori, the Taupo and Rotorua hospitals, Hunga Mannaki Rotorua hospital, the Turangi Police, Dr Renee Renoir, The Rotorua ICU/Medical units Drs and staff and Robyn and Helga from the Rotorua Renal unit who did everything medically possible to make Joe comfortable during his illness and whom showed our distraught family so much empathy and compassion when Joes prognosis was bleak thus allowing us time to come to terms with his inevitable outcome and then arranging for his return home to Waihi Village. To the friends and whanau who have travelled this difficult journey with us, so many to name, Josephs last 3 days were filled with fun, laughter, loads of banter, the sounds of Iron "Bloody" Maiden, happy memories and tears. With the support and assistance of the Taupo Hospice Joes passing came quietly. Thank you for coming to our aid and in preserving our brothers dignity. Elaine, it was meant to be you. The Taupo Funeral home who helped us with the selection of an "eco enviro" box, those who know Joe will know how chuffed he would have been with that. Thank you Father Leonard for conducting Josephs requiem mass at St Werenfrid Waihi Village and burial at Te Korowhiti o Rereao. To the many whanau whom are overseas that could not be with us, especially Martin, Leah, Kayla, Tiahuia, Stephanie and Maria you have been constantly in our thoughts, hearts and prayers, the whanau and friends who travelled from near and far, the heartfelt messages of aroha, condolences and gifts of koha and our beloved hau kainga who have embraced and surrounded our family with so much love, support and strength while sharing in our grief, sorrow and loss of a much loved son, a brother, an Uncle and Koro. Thank you all. Ma te atua koutou hei manaaki hei tiaki hoki I nga wa katoa.
