Joe you were a neat guy who was very fond of our mum. Also he was so kind to our family when they moved to Auckland & it was great when I caught up for a chat & pint. Miss you Joe. Dave & Val

Shocked and surprised to get the call from the police that night at 12.45am as they were looking for next of kin, Joe was a good mate. We met back in the late 70's and did a heap of things together, Out boating in his first 2 boats (Joe X and the Electra), Ice skating, with a good bunch of friends. Poor guy fell into our septic tank at our bach once, he didnt look or smell flash. We saw him on his trips to Chch. Joe will be sadly missed and fondly remembered, Condolences to the family. It is sad to read of Joe's passing. Enjoyed working with him from the Post Office Radio Inspectors days through to about 2003 and meeting occasionally after that. Sincere condolences.
