So many fond memories of Jonnie, at Ocean beach fishing or surfing, playing family cricket, and enjoying barbecues. But it was the seven years working for Jonnie where I learned skills such as punctuality, hard work and the ability to get up at 4.30 in the morning. Fast forward 30 years - these are skills I still use daily - well.. maybe not the 4.30am starts!
Before starting university, many of us "younglings" had our first job on Moffett's orchard. It was through Jonnie's kindness and understanding that we were given this chance to get started, and at the same to to create so many fun memories. And to this day I have never had more delicious apples!
Today I pause and reflect on this remarkable man, his achievements and the big impact he had on my life. I am, and will be, forever grateful.
I'm wearing green today Jonnie, rest in peace.
