I'm so sorry to read that John had died and I offer my sincerest sympathy to his family. We both started working at the Lands and Survey Department many years ago as cadets. I changed careers and re-qualified in Civil Engineering and worked for a private firm. He was astute and conscientious too, and was very successful in his chosen surveying career. I am sad to have lost touch with him over the years and I wish his family best wishes for the future.

So sad to hear of John's passing. Sending my sympathies to family. I worked with John briefly in the 1990s at his busy practice in Auckland City. He was the consummate survey professional and businessman with an eye for detail.
