Lyndal & family we are very sorry to hear of John´s passing and very sorry we missed the funeral. Having been a neighbour for over 20 years on The Strand he is sadly missed. He & you Lyndal were very hospitable & trustworthy neighbours. We´re sure Lyndal will have wonderful memories of John.

I was sorry to hear of Johns passing and send my condolences to all the family. John certainly was a man of influence serving the dairy sector and wider Manawatu.

My sincere condolences to you Lyndal and family in your sad loss of John. What a fine man he was. I have fond memories of times in the early 1990s, playing classical music at high volume to some of his cows that would gather over our fence during our early days in Kilkenny Place. They were transfixed and we enjoyed their company.

John was a uniquely astute, compassionate and effective leader in his community. A committed family man, he had a clear worldview - rural and urban - and a strong sense of right and wrong.
John sparked change with his powerful, charismatic personality and maintained progress with the strength of his personal relationships. In particular, his contribution to the success of the dairy industry has been outstanding.
