Dr. John was my fathers best friend and one of my heroes growing up. The Thomson family and my family were like "cousins ". I was best friends with Vicki's husband Mick and I was able to go to NZ to see him before he passed. I picked Dr. Johns brain about spiritual questions when I was there and was not disappointed with his counsel. He was a very "sweet man" with a great heart and great insight. I miss you my "Uncle."

I was stunned today to learn of dear John's passing. He was one of the kindest, most generous and respectful people I have ever known. I met John through his passion for all things photographic and I enjoyed every minute I was in John's company. He had a special grace and aura about him which I have never experienced before. Rest in peace my good friend John.

Dr John Thomson was a favorite Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Nation Women's Hospital. We were horrified when he was required to take compulsory retirement when he reached the age of 65 in 1998 and we had a special farewell for him as an Access Holder because of this then policy of the AHB. He got round that and joined us again and was highly regarded and respected by all the midwives and nurses. He was a regular attending at the weekly prayer meeting run by Heather Sims.His gentle unassuming manner was appreciated by all and we sought his expertise regularly.
John my life has been enriched by knowing you and working with you. God has called you home now

I have fond memories of Dr Thomson from the former National Women's Hospital. I was a new house surgeon there just before he retired. He was very much respected by his colleagues, especially 'juniors', to whom he was always ready to listen, offer advice and support. He was kind, calm, wise and an absolute gentleman. Condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.
