Sending my condolences to family and friends of Mr Ryan who was my principal at Tamatea High School. He was always approachable, firm and fair. I happened to see him at a St Patrick's gala and he still remembered me and asked after my family and siblings. A remarkable man who impacted me and a lot of others. Fondly remembered, Paulette Hema

Our sincere condolences on the passing of John Ryan. We are most grateful for the interest, knowledge and commitment John was able to bring to local Dannevirke history projects... notably St Joseph's Parish and the Glengarry Soldier Settlement. A special time to have reconnected with an old teacher from Dannevirke High School days. Rest in Peace, John Ryan.

John Ryan, the best, nicest, most gracious & sincere School Principal I´d ever had. John had a genuine interest in the development of all young people he governed, proudly serving as the Tamatea High School founding Principal for 23 years. We were hoping he´d join us for the School´s 50th Reunion at Labour Weekend this year, his absence will be fondly remembered & John, you were scholar & a true gentleman. We are enormously saddened by your passing. May you now Rest In Peace.
