John was my boss at Pallet supplies. He was an amazing boss so kind and thoughtful. One day John noticed that I was riding my bike to work on Roscommon Road. He said I was too precious to loose and bought me a second hand rise along with giving me a payrise. I'll never forget his kindness. He always was grateful if you worked hard. RIP John. You were one of the good ones. My condolences to Jan, Brett, Paul and Vanessa and their families.

I have good memories of playing with John and making kites and trolleys in our primary school and intermediate school days. I lived in Mays Rd - a distance of only about 100 m from John's house in Captain Springs Rd. I remember playing in the old rock quarry nearby and tasting my first Feijoa while playing with John in a neighbour's garden! We lost touch when we went to different high schools. I remember meeting John in Manurewa some years later when my wife and I happened to look at a new house being built there and John showed up at the door - what a nice surprise! My thoughts go to Johns sisters and family at this time.

Dearest Johnny Boy,
Your kindness, generosity and zest for life never wavered. The love and loyalty for your family and friends made you a very special man.
I will miss `Jan & John´ lunches at George´s Sanctuary Cove, breakfasts at Aqua and the incredible fun times we shared with mutual friends.
Rest assure we will look after Jan and support her with love and care.
You will be missed by so many.

Jan and John treated my elderly dad like a king when they visited the Gold Coast , dad had a real soft spot for John and would be so sad about the loss

Have a fond memory of taking my usual cheap wine to have a drink with John and Jan on the Gold Coast , we finished that so John raided the wine cellar of the apartment they were renting , Jan went to replace the $1500 wine !! Not happy , but it was nice

RUDD, John (Ruddy / JR). Born May 13, 1940. Passed away on May 13, 2024. Ruddy was a Foundation Member and exemplified all that is good about “Service above Self”. JR always set a fantastic example as he was always among the first to volunteer for whatever Club Activity or Project was happening. He will be so sadly missed. His funeral will be held at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club on Mon27th at 1.00pm
