Lizette Mejia Obituary

MEJIA, Lizette, Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Lizette passed away on November 22, 2025. Lizette was born in New York, NY on June 27, 1957 the second of the three children of Teodosio and Lucy Mejia . She graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, NY before attending Stony Brook University in New York where she received an associate's degree. Lizette moved to Dallas, Texas in 1982 and worked for many years as the Director of Memorabilia for Hollywood Casino Corporation where she was able to indulge her love of movies and cinema history. Lizette was a devoted mother to her beloved son Michael and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren Ethan and Kylee. Her hobbies were many, including: being a talented painter who enjoyed sharing many of her paintings with friends and family, a freelance photographer who loved capturing beautiful images of nature, and a great cook who was known for her famous stuffing on Thanksgiving, her empanadas, and her incredible red beans and rice, among so many other favorites. Additionally, Lizette was a beautiful singer who spent several years singing in the choir at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed collecting movie memorabilia and spending time with her long time friends from New York, who she recently got to see this summer at her 50th high school reunion. Lizette will be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends for her vibrant personality, her infectious laughter, her ability to make anyone laugh while telling funny stories or doing impressions and her knack for using her artistic creativity to make anything beautiful. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Lucy and Teodosio Mejia, and brother, Alan Mejia. She is survived by her cherished son Michael Mejia and his wife Jackie, her grandson Ethan, her granddaughter Kylee, her sister Aileen Pratt and her husband Jack, her nephew Michael Pratt and his wife Molly, and her niece Caroline Pratt Cohn and her husband Will. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75225 with Father Anthony Lackland officiating. The family would like to express its gratitude for the many messages of support, love, and memories of Lizette over the past several days. Donations in Lizette's memory may be made to The Ursuline Academy of Dallas or The Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.

A wonderful lady who enhanced memorabilia for the Ark La Tex Antique and Classic Museum in Shreveport , Louisiana. A dear friend whose love of life was infectious. She will entertain the angels! May she rest in peace . Loved her.
