Life without John....
Not sure where to begin....
We met John nearly 30 years ago at a trade show exhibition in Birmingham here in the UK. This was the luckiest and happiest day of our lives.
We became such close friends over the years, travelling all over the world with him and Alison.
So many precious and happy memories of times spent together, travelling all over the world together, going to New Zealand to stay with them and touring NZ, with them coming over to us here in London, and taking them to Cornwall, to France to our chalet in the Alps.
Our last holiday with John on his own was only 18 months ago when we took him to Madeira for 2 weeks.
John was unique, a most extraordinary man, so genuine, generous, funny with a wicked sense of humour.
We shared his passion for rugby and were talking rugby with him on a video whatsapp chat only 2 days before he died .
His family were everything to them.
He was so loved by his daughter Bindy and grand daughter Skye who were by his side, helping him to cope with dear Alison's illness, they all meant the world to him
John will be greatly missed by so many but we feel especially privileged to have met him and to have so many very happy memories of our times together, with laughter and joy all the way.
Farewell dearest John.
With fondest love

I am so sorry I referred to Celeste and not Belinda - too hasty in my message.
Warm regards

To John Robb's family.
I worked alongside John at Carrington Institute/ Unitec for a number of years and I have the utmost respect for the skills he brought to his role as the Chair of the Board. It was a pleasure to have John recognise my skills in teaching Economics for him to ask me to help his daughter, Celeste, when she embarked on her MBA. Sadly I can't join you on Thursday at John's farewell, but I will be thinking of you. Barbara O'Connor, Academic Director, Unitec.

Tim Astley here.
While my older brother Graham was a contemporary of Johnny I personally never knew him other than by repute....at the bus stop with my brother they found a dead rat. I recall with childish horror my brother coming home and recounting "Johnny Robb touched a rat!"
There were more but the main reason for this communication is Johnny 's father Sir Douglas 67 years ago surgically corrected a coarctation of my aorta. It transformed and indeed saved my life! My father had an arm chair made covered with Astley leather as a gift. The Robbs, the Seabrooks, the Vernon Brown family, Stanmore Bay....all part of my childhood memories.
It was that sentinel event in my life which lead on to a career as an Orthopaedic Surgeon
The Robbs will always be part of my heritage story.
Vale Johnny
