John OSMERS Obituary
OSMERS, John Robert. CNZM. Retired bishop of Eastern Zambia. On 16th June (Soweto Day) in Lusaka, Zambia from complications from Covid. Aged 86. Loved brother of David (deceased) of Makarora and Elizabeth Gordon. Loved brother-in-law of Rhondda Osmers and Derry Gordon. Uncle John to Karla and George Osmers and John, Susannah, Margaret and Charlotte Gordon. John spent his working life as an Anglican priest in Lesotho, Botswana and Zambia fighting for social justice. A memorial service (which will be streamed) will be held in the Christchurch Transitional Cathedral on Saturday 26th June at 2pm. Messages to Elizabeth Gordon, 120 Lonsdale Street, Christchurch 8083.
