John NANKERVIS Obituary

NANKERVIS, John Marsden. Peacefully at Selwyn Sprott House on 11 January 2022, aged 75, supported by his family and close friends. 'Nank' did not recover from a serious stroke he suffered on 18 November. Son of the late Mary Esther and Richard John (Dick) Nankervis, brother of Christine Harrison (UK) and the late Margaret Finch (Hawke's Bay). Uncle to Katie Gibson, Nicola Banks, Megan Buck, Tim Finch, Annabel Ball and William Finch. "Gruncle" to his great nephews and nieces. Nank was an outstanding mountaineer, an avid skier and a tireless conservationist. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends and mountaineering companions. A private cremation is to take place and a memorial service for Nank will be held in February; date and venue yet to be arranged.
