John Morton Obituary

Prof Morton has been a friend and mentor throughout my life. The most erudite man I have ever met. An inspirational teacher, a man of profound spiritual and moral sensibility and a warm and generous heart. His life can be measured by the immense amount he gave to others and lives on in their work and lives. The too often repeated phrase "we'll not see his like again" does not begin to measure our loss. I am sorry to hear that such an inspirational teacher has passed away. Professor Morton was one of the few teachers to encourage me during my time at Auckland University. I have endeavoured to pass on his inspirational style in my own teaching.

Professor Morton will never truly die as long as his students remember him.
