John MATHESON Obituary
MATHESON, John Philip. At Thames Hospital on 24 May 2023; aged 82 years. Beloved younger son of Harry and Kit Matheson (deceased). Dearly loved brother and brother-in- law of Noeleen (deceased), Elaine (deceased) and Barry Stewart (deceased), Don (deceased) and Janis Matheson, Jean-Marie and John Wilson. Loved Uncle of all his nephews and nieces and their families. Rosary at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 306 Willoughby Street, Thames on Tuesday 30 May at 7pm. Requiem Mass at the above Church on Wednesday 31 May at 11am. Burial at Mangere Lawn Cemetery, 85 McKenzie Road, Mangere, Auckland on Thursday 1 June at 11am. Reunited now with his family. The service will be livestreamed. Please contact family to receive the link 'Rest In Peace, John'.

From the Thames Hang Gliding & Paragliding Pilots. Our sincere condolences to all of Johns family. We met John in 1986 when he was kind enough to let us use an area on his land where we could take off in our gliders. John was very intrigued with our unusual sport but did think we were a bit nuts. We have flown from Johns property every year for 37 years. It was always a pleasure to call in and have a chat with John on our way up his farm to fly off in our gliders & we will miss him dearly.
