Though my time with Mr. John was brief, he left a lasting impression on me as a kind and bright individual with a deep love for our Lord Jesus. The service was truly beautiful and filled with love.
I have the hope of seeing him again in glory in eternity. During this difficult period, may God bring comfort and peace to the entire family. May God bless the the Massam family.

We are very sorry that we could not join in saying goodbye to John! We joined with all our hearts and souls in yesterday's farewell via video broadcast. This is a great loss for his family and friends. We express our condolences and hope that sadness will not darken their souls. We knew him for only a short time, but he gave the impression of a kind and bright person! We are very upset and saddened by his passing. May God give strength and peace to his wife, children and grandchildren. His friends will always remember him! We will never forget him either!
With love Valentina and Alexey.

I have such wonderful memories of both John & Val as together they showed me what a loving family can look like when I enjoyed their hospitality. I saw John as a spiritual mentor and friend. I thank and praise God for the good times and knowing John and getting to know his sense of humour. It took me quite a while to work out whether John was teasing, serious or challenging me. I appreciate knowing this family man and his deep faith in God. We will see him again in glory in our/God's time.
May God comfort and give Val and her family His peace at this time. Love, Pam Brooking

A wonderful man of God. A man of faith, vision and integrity. An inspiration to so many. We so appreciated his contribution at the book launch. He is with the Lord. What greater place to be. God bless all the Massam family and be your peace and strength in the days ahead. God Bless, Maurice and Ruth Charman and Megan Davies.

Hi Val and family,
I was saddened to hear of your great loss, I first meet John working at Challenge Weekly where I reported to him as The Advertising Manager.

My wife Mariana and I became great friends with John and Val over the years. I found John to be the best closet friend a spiritual companion and I often called him my Adopted Dad and family. I will miss our talks over scripture and fellowship together.

Our heart goes to all your family at this time.

John ran an awesome race he fought the good fight he is now with the King of Kings

Praying for you and your family for strength at this time.
Love Keith and Mariana Thomas

John was a well respected and much appreciated member of the Christian publishing community in New Zealand. He was a founder of the NZ Christian Writers Guild in the 1980s and his valuable leadership and support of Challenge Weekly will always be remembered. His was a life well-lived. Dear Val, much love and deepest sympathy. I know just how you are feeling but we share the joy of knowing that our beloved husbands are with their Lord they have both served so faithfully. They go back a long time. Mrs Massam was a mentor to Frank. He was a long time contributor to the Challenge Newspaper under John´s leadership. I know you have lots of happy memories of your long marriage to John. Love, Pam Hutchinson

Dear Val and family,
Our sincere sympathy in your loss. We have admired John and his work for God's Kingdom for many years from a distance but in recent times more closely as he often popped in to see us. We are sad that this man of God has left us but know he is rejoicing in the Heavenly Father's presence.
Thank you John for your faithfulness and service. It was not in vain in the Lord.

Bronnie and I have wonderful memories of living at Waipiti Avenue as so generously provided by you Val and John all those years ago. Bronnie's Mum and Dad, Roly and Claire, treasured their working friendship with John and his support of the Open Doors ministry. We are sorry we cannot be there Monday, but hope to link into the live stream if provided. Love and empathy Val to you and all your family. Blessings and prayers, Ron Bennett
