Hi, boys & Ariel, wives & partners and families,
I am sad to hear of the passing of your Dad - the last of the 23rd Battalion "uncles". Truly, Jack's death is the end of an era that for me extends back 65 years or more to Khandallah, Tawa and all those memories as kids.
I was lucky to have a few telephone talks with your mum & dad a couple of years back, and it was great to re-kindle the fellowship that the 23rd guys had!
I found a photo of Jack recently in Dad's army album. I don't know if you have it - I suspect that Dad took it from the back of a truck somewhere in (probably) Italy, and it may well be the only copy! I'll attach it to this but if it doesn't work please contact me at [email protected] if you'd like it. The inscription on the back reads "Jack Linklater at speed on his hurdy-gurdy."
Very best wishes to you all,
John and Evelyn Dawson
