Sir John Ingram was one of the finest managers of people that I have had the privilege of working with _ you always worked with him, not for him. He brought credit to himself, his family and his country. Condolences to Rosemary and the Ingram family. John Adams

Farewell to our neighbour across the road in Glenbrook Street of over 21 years who always stopped for a chat when he was out walking or down the drive clearing the mail or looking for the cat. Your cheerful wave as we come and go in the car will be missed. Our sympathy to Rosemary and the wider family with whom our paths have also crossed over the years. Julie Goodyer and the Allbury family.

John was a wonderful and remarkable man! We first met him in Pittsburgh when he visited his family here more than 20 years ago. The Christie family were here for a year while Peter was on sabbatical at the famous liver transplant center of the University of Pittsburgh. Peter and Nicky's boys, John, Adam and Charles, were similar ages to our Kelly and Greg. As expat Kiwis, we spent much time together as familiesbarbeques, sports events, dinners, outings. The later loss of Peter was a great sadness to us. We were struck by what a model couple John and Rosemary were for us all. We will always remember John for his immense charm, decency and dignity. He was so interesting to talk to about his work as Pro-Vice Chancellor at the University of Auckland and on the Waitangi Tribunal and on a whole range of other topics. He was a consummate gentleman. New Zealand has lost one of its great human spirits of our time.

Rosemary, Edwina, Nichola, Joan and all your families.
I feel we've lost a great man with John's passing. I have fond memories of the Ingram visits to Goose Bay from my childhood. We had a great role model for our life.
Although I had little contact with John in recent years I have one nice memory of him. Helen and I took our family on a great North Island holiday one summer when John must have been about 70. We were invited to call into the Taupo batch for lunch. When we arrived John was not at the batch and Rosemary was a bit cross with him as he'd gone of to jump off a cliff into the lake. I got the feeling that John did not want to give up this annual event as it would have been giving into his age.
