I met John many years ago on their farm in Kakaramea as a friend of Philip.Phill & I have been mates since we were teenagers.I was a towny from Whanganui & we knew each other through mutual acquaintances & we were both into motorcycles.I would visit Phill from time to time when he lived at home & would run into John & Shirley or Mr & Mrs Goodman in those days.Over the years I have done a few plumbing jobs on the farm.Just little stuff.Paid me in fence posts as I remember.A Lovely bloke & was always interested I what we were up to.We visited John a few weeks ago when we heard from Phil he was in the rest home.It was great to talk to him & share a few memories. He told us he´d written a book.Im sure it would make some interesting reading. All in all I know I´m better for knowing John.We were sorry to hear this morning he had passed. Please except our heartfelt condolences.
