We were shocked and saddened by the news of Gavin's sudden passing. He was always a true gentleman and we will always value the last time he was in Ngongotaha and spent some time with us. Condolences to you Lorraine, and your family. Lynda and John.

Hello Lorraine,
Six of us from the Watercolour Society went to Gavin's funeral. We are all shocked and hope friends and family are supporting you. We had a period of silence remembering his support and contribution to the Society and everyone sends condolences to you and your lovely family.

Have just arrived home from Hawkes Bay and learnt the sad news about Gavin. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend his funeral. Gavin was a good friend at Kings. I stayed at his batch at Ngongotaha for several days and he joined my father and me on a couple of trips to Mt. Egmont. We also ran against each other in the 440yds and were in the same relay team over the same distance. They were great days and great memories. We had a good catch-up at the last Kings reunion. My sincere sympathy and condolences to the family.

Farewell Gavin. I never got the chance to tell you how much I respected you as a painter or how I felt you should be the President of the Auckland Watercolour Society which is where you really belonged.
I also respected you as a gentle man who had courage, a rare thing in these times.
I think we have all suffered a great loss.
Take care up there.

Dear Lorraine & Family,

We also lost touch over the years, but recent dialogue with Gavin brought to mind his presence; always a gentle-man, and a gentleman and a good friend. Our sympathy to you all.

Gavin was always a loyal, contributing, fun member of The Breakfast Club. His many years with us were always a delight and we rued the days when he went fishing instead! Like you Lorraine, we will miss him.
