John FALKNER Obituary

FALKNER, John Brewster. John passed away peacefully on Tuesday 12 November at Metlifecare Karori. He was the dearly loved husband of Clare, loving father to Carolyn, Andrea, Richard and Alistair and their partners, grandfather of Alexandra, Victoria, Blake, Leo, Carla and Marco. Great-grandfather of Francesca. Cherished brother of Elizabeth Wagner and Susan Crundwell. A patient sufferer at rest. Private family burial. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held in the new year (details to come). We four Fortune sisters fondly remember a very kind and gentle man who was held in great regard by our parents Dulcie and Arthur Fortune. I was a patient of John from the 1960s to the 1990s when he retired and I admired him both as a dentist and as a charming person. Lois was also a patient for a few years. Our sincere sympathy and best wishes to the family. Lois and David Williams

Our Mother Sue Bowie, was one of John Falkner's first patients when he set up his practice many years ago, and consequently he became our wonderful family dentist, whom we adored and were never afraid to pay him a visit. Unlike many other dentists!! Coincidently and very sadly, our mother passed away this week on the same day as John. They are sure to be catching up with each other up there somewhere. Rest in Peace lovely man, you were a pleasure to know.
