So many memories, so much fun. Listening to the cricket at my home in Avondale. Inumerable long lunches in Wellington, late nights with Johnny hammering away at the piano. Thanks me old mate or as we referred to you the "silver hoon". Worked with you at 1ZM,2ZB and 1ZB in that order. You were a legend! May you rest in peace. Thanks for being a part of my life.

With much regret, I could not attend John's funeral but will remember John as a great life-long friend to my late father Paddy and all of our family. So many happy times together- including many parties with John on piano- he played at my own wedding celebration in Wanganui. Sadly missed and much loved by us all xoxo

To Johnny's family, our sincere condolences on the loss of a very special man. There are not many who can say they met the Beatles! I worked for Johnny during my radio career and always found him to be an encouraging and inspirational mentor and friend. I appreciated all his help and guidance and am in total awe of his incredible musical talent. As the song says, there must be a hell of a band in heaven, and it has gained another fantastic member. Keep on Rockin' Johnny, we won't forget you. With love, Tina Raats (nee Turner).
